Let’s Work Together

Dr. Giovanelli’s work is grounded in developmental science - what we actually know about how young people think, feel, take risks, and grow - and informed by her years of hands-on experience working as a clinical psychologist with kids and families. Everything she does is solidly planted in this evidence base.

She applies evidence-based practice from her research, “practice-based evidence” from her clinical work, and real-world applications from industry partnerships to advance knowledge and drive meaningful growth.

Child and Adolescent Development and Mental Health

Dr. Giovanelli’s doctoral and postdoctoral experiences entailed extensive training in assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and families and in a range of contexts. Her research delved into both the long-term consequences of early adversity and practical treatment of youth mental health concerns.

Adolescent and Young Adult Substance Use

Young people are growing up in a world their parents and providers didn’t. A chatbot can be the first place a teenager takes a mental health crisis at 2am. That reality signals a real unmet need. It also carries real risk when the tools around it aren’t built with adolescent development, safety, or clinical judgment in mind. Dr. Giovanelli is a sought-after speaker and writer on this complex and rapidly evolving topic.

Technology & Youth Mental Health

Dr. Giovanelli has expertise in Substance Use Disorders in young people, including mental and physical health implications, treatment engagement, family involvement, and developmental impacts. She has specific expertise in Cannabis Use Disorder and high-potency cannabis use.
